Nice mixed bag of fish caught over the past few weeks...and Haulover Happenings!

The past few weeks of fishing have produced some very nice catches including wahoo, barracuda, kingfish, skipjack tuna, blackfin tuna, bonito, and vermilion and lane snappers...and the release of a blue-spotted cornetfish! The weather has been outstanding, there’s been plenty of bait around and the fish have been biting pretty steady, so this has been a really nice time to be out on the ocean.

Another deep sea oddity...a blue-spotted cornetfish!

The pelicans helped us find these sardines...

Some things going on at Haulover during the month of October:
In addition to checking out the boats and the catch of the day at Bill Bird Marina, Haulover Park will be an especially fun place to visit this weekend (October 3-4, 2009) when the South Florida Dragon Boat Festival takes place. And then on Sunday, October 18, 2009, Skyward Kites will be hosting the Kitetoberfest Kite Festival where there will be contests, prizes, food and music and a lot of very unique kites flying farther out than you could ever imagine!
